The song By the Fireside was written by Jimmy Campbell [GB1], Reg Connelly and Ray Noble and was first recorded by Ray Noble and His New Mayfair Orchestra in 1932. It was covered by Buddy Campbell & His Orchestra, Bruce Forsyth, Victor Silvester and His Ballroom Orchestra, Ronnie Hilton and other artists.
The most popular vocalist with Noble's studio band was Al Bowlly, who joined in 1930. [4] During this time, Noble co-wrote "Turkish Delight", "By the Fireside" and "Goodnight, Sweetheart". The latter song was a number one hit for Guy Lombardo in the American charts.
