Million, Mercer, Sauter, Demeski and Baumgartner also gigged around New York and Hoboken under the name Yung Wu, which was fronted by and featured the songs of Feelies' percussionist Dave Weckerman, who also sang lead. Yung Wu released one album on Coyote Records in 1986, titled Shore Leave.

The drummer was Dave Weckerman, while Glenn played guitar and Bill the bass guitar. They toured for a while in the area, and in 1976, when they met Keith Clayton (bass) and Vinnie DeNunzio (drums), Bill changed to the rhythm guitar and Dave to percussions: The Feelies were born.
On 1987’s Shore Leave, the mid-period line-up of the Feelies’ (co-founders Glenn Mercer and Bill Million, percussionist Dave Weckerman, bass player Brenda Sauter, and drummer Stanley Demeski) were joined by keyboard player John Baumgartner, a member of the Feelies’ side project the Trypes.
