Quebec Act. William Legge, 2nd earl of Dartmouth (born June 20, 1731—died July 15, 1801, Blackheath, Kent, England) was a British statesman who played a significant role in the events leading to the American Revolution. Legge was educated at Westminster School and Trinity College, Oxford.

From 2009 to 2019, Dartmouth sat in the European Parliament as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for South West England.
