  1. The band grew out of an earlier skiffle group formed by McNally in 1957, with his friends Ron Woodbridge (born 1938 in Liverpool; lead vocals), Brian Dolan (guitar) and Tony West (born 1938 in Liverpool, died 11 November 2010 in Hightown, Merseyside; bass).

  2. Mike Pender. Originally founded as a skiffle group in Liverpool in 1959 by John McNally and Mike Pender ( Mike Prendergast ), the band took their name from the classic 1956 John Wayne western The Searchers. Prendergast claims that the name was his idea, but McNally ascribes it to 'Big Ron' Woodbridge, their first lead singer.

  7. 5 de jul. de 2000 · Ron Woodbridge was raised in Anfield and as a young man sang with early skiffle as well as rock and roll groups around Liverpool in the late fifties. Ron has been apparently commented that he didn't remain with the early Searchers very long as "they were too young" for him.
