Coriolanus (/ k ɒ r i ə ˈ l eɪ n ə s / or /-ˈ l ɑː-/) is a tragedy by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written between 1605 and 1608. The play is based on the life of the legendary Roman leader Gnaeus Marcius Coriolanus .
Caio Márcio Coriolano (em latim: Gaius Marcius ou Caius Martius Coriolanus) foi um general da gente Márcia da República Romana no século V a.C. Ele recebeu seu cognome toponímico, "Coriolano", por causa do excepcional valor demonstrado no cerco romano à cidade volsca de Corioli.
Coriolano (no original em inglês, Coriolanus) é uma tragédia de 1608 do dramaturgo inglês William Shakespeare, que seguiu a biografia de Plutarco de Queroneia, célebre autor de biografias de diversos gregos antigos. Caio Márcio fica conhecido como Coriolano após vencer uma batalha contra os volscos.

The five-act play, based on the life of Gnaeus Marcius Coriolanus, a legendary Roman hero of the late 6th and early 5th centuries bce, is essentially an expansion of the Plutarchan biography in Parallel Lives. Though it is Elizabethan in structure, it is markedly Classical in tone.
