    The part of Tanya Turner was originally named Tansy. In the earlier series, Earls Park Football Club's home games were played at the real life Selhurst Park, which is the home of Crystal Palace Football Club. From series three onward, stadium scenes were filmed at the original White Hart Lane, former (now demolished) home of Tottenham Hotspur.

    Series one was shown between 8 January and 26 February 2002 with eight episodes. The series follows a group of footballers' wives whose husbands play for Earls Park (nicknamed "Sparks").     Footballers' Wives has been nominated for several awards; in 2004, there were two nominations at the National Television Awards – for Most Popular Drama and Zöe Lucker for Best Actress. Zöe Lucker received the TV Quick Award for Best Actress in 2004, as well as a nomination for Best Actress in 2005.The series also received the TV Quick Award for Best Loved Drama in 2005.
