18 de nov. de 2021 · Poulenc is invited on 21 August to participate in a concert of French music in Salzburg. At his hotel, he finds a note from Pierre Bernac, the baritone of the Chansons gaillardes, inviting him to accompany the singer in Debussy.
A partir de 1935 e até à sua morte, em 1963, acompanha Bernac ao piano em recitais de música francesa por todo o mundo. Pierre Bernac é considerado como "a musa" de Poulenc. Poulenc foi profundamente afectado pela morte de alguns dos seus amigos mais próximos.

At a concert of music by the two friends in 1926, Poulenc's songs were sung for the first time by the baritone Pierre Bernac, from whom, in Hell's phrase, "the name of Poulenc was soon to be inseparable."
Pierre Louis Bernac (né Bertin; 12 January 1899 – 17 October 1979) was a French singer, a baryton-martin, known as an interpreter of the French mélodie. He had a close artistic association with Francis Poulenc , with whom he performed in France and abroad.
