Destrehan is a census-designated place (CDP) in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana, United States. At the 2020 census, its population was 11,340. It is located on the east bank of the Mississippi River. Destrehan is part of the New Orleans—Metairie—Kenner metropolitan statistical area.
Destrehan Plantation (French: Plantation Destrehan) is an antebellum mansion, in the French Colonial style, modified with Greek Revival architectural elements. It is located in southeast Louisiana , near the town of the same name, Destrehan .
Built in 1787, Destrehan Plantation is the oldest documented plantation home in the lower Mississippi Valley. The plantation is open seven (7) days a week with the exception of major holidays from 9am to 5:30pm. The first tour begins at 9:30am. Duration: 1-2 hours.

The Destrehan family in Louisiana begins with Jean Baptiste Honore Destrehan, Sieur De Peaupre (1716-1765). He was the son of Jean Baptiste Destrehan (ca. 1670-1740), who was counselor to King Louis XIV and treasurer of all arts and crafts guilds in Paris and its environs.
