  3. Before its removal in 1931, the dining room at Kirtlington Park, in Oxfordshire, was widely regarded as one of the most beautiful Rococo rooms in England. Sir James Dashwood (17151779; 56.190 ), baronet, devoted much of his energy and fortune to the building and furnishing of Kirtlington Park.

  4. Robert Dashwood was succeeded by his grandson, James, the second Baronet. He also represented Oxfordshire in the House of Commons. On the death of James Dashwood in 1779 the title passed to his eldest son, Henry, the third Baronet. He was Member of Parliament for Woodstock for 36 years.

  7. MP for Oxfordshire. Sir James Dashwood, the son of Robert Dashwood and Dorothy Read, was born about 1715 at Kirtlington Park in Oxfordshire. Sir James died 10 November 1779 - aged 64. Elizabeth Spencer, the daughter of Edward Spencer and Anne Barker, was born at Rendlesham in Suffolk about 1718.
