Gypsy: A Musical Fable is a musical with music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and a book by Arthur Laurents. It is loosely based on the 1957 memoirs of striptease artist Gypsy Rose Lee, and focuses on her mother, Rose, whose name has become synonymous with "the ultimate show business mother."

Jule Styne (/ ˈ dʒ uː l i / JOO-lee; born Julius Kerwin Stein; December 31, 1905 – September 20, 1994) was an English-American songwriter and composer widely known for a series of Broadway musicals, including several famous frequently-revived shows that also became successful films: Gypsy, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and Funny Girl.
From the memoirs of legendary stripper Gypsy Rose Lee, librettist Arthur Laurents, lyricist Stephen Sondheim and composer Jule Styne created an exceptionally dramatic, funny, moving story of the ultimate stage mother who will do anything to see her children succeed.
