Ottaviano Riario (born September 1479 – 1523) was an Italian condottiero and Lord of Imola and Forlì. Despite his nominal leadership, the real power lay with his mother Caterina Sforza.
RIARIO, Ottaviano. – Figlio di Girolamo Riario e di Caterina Sforza, nacque a Roma il 1° settembre 1479. Il padre era figlio di Bianca della Rovere e quindi nipote di Francesco della Rovere, papa con il nome di Sisto IV dal 1471.

Caterina Sforza was an Italian noblewoman and Countess of Forlì and Lady of Imola firstly with her husband Girolamo Riario, and after his death as a regent of her son Ottaviano.
Riario is the principal antagonist in the third season of the Netflix series Medici, played by Jack Roth. In the show, he is assassinated in Rome immediately after the papal election, having been betrayed by Catarina.
