144 minutos. Em 2005 um ataque nuclear destrói parte do estado de Texas, o que força o governo americano a intervir com a liberdade de todos os cidadãos. Um grupo revolucionário tenta acabar com a ditadura através da violência.
No século XXI, Southland Tales é o maior exemplo. O filme foi desdenhosamente massacrado em sua estreia em Cannes. Roger Ebert chamou o filme de “a pior estreia de Cannes”, enquanto outros críticos seguiram a mesma linha e o chamaram de “ridículo”, e “indefensável”.
