Thomas Stanley, 1st Earl of Derby (1435–1504), KG, eldest son and heir, who in 1485 was created Earl of Derby by King Henry VII following his decisive assistance in the Battle of Bosworth. He married twice, firstly to Eleanor de Neville, secondly to Lady Margaret Beaufort, mother of King Henry VII.

Thomas Stanley, 1st earl of Derby was a prominent figure in the later stage of England’s Wars of the Roses. Great-grandson of Sir John Stanley (died c. 1414), who created the fortunes of the Stanley family, Thomas Stanley began his career as a squire to King Henry VI in 1454.

Thomas Stanley, 1st Earl of Derby, KG (1435 – 29 July 1504) was an English nobleman. He was the stepfather of King Henry VII of England . He was the eldest son of Thomas Stanley, 1st Baron Stanley and Joan Goushill .
THOMAS STANLEY, 1ST EARL OF DERBY AND 2ND BARON STANLEY, was a nobleman who played a prominent part during the reigns of Edward IV, Richard III, and Henry VII. He married Warwick 's sister Eleanor, and gained Edward IV 's favour.
A year later Thomas Stanley's grandfather, the 1st Earl, died at Lathom in Lancashire on 9 November 1504, and Thomas succeeded to the earldom of Derby and the barony of Stanley. When his mother died at Colham Green, Middlesex, on 20 March 1514, Derby inherited the baronies of Strange and Mohun.
