When Herman Margrave of Brandenburg-Salzwedel Ascania was born in 1275, in Brandenburg, Prussia, Germany, his father, Otto von Brandenburg-Salzwedel IV or V Margraf, was 29 and his mother, Judith of Henneberg-Coburg, was 28. He married Anna of Austria, Margravine of Brandenburg Habsburg in 1295.
15 de ago. de 2024 · Herman was the son of Margrave Otto V of Brandenburg-Salzwedel and his wife Judith, daughter of the Franconian count Herman I of Henneberg. In 1299, he succeeded his father as co-regent of Brandenburg, which he ruled jointly with his cousin Otto IV.

Margrave John V of Brandenburg-Salzwedel, nicknamed "the Illustrious" (in Latin Illustris), (1302 – 26 March 1317) was Margrave and co-ruler of Brandenburg from 1308 until his death. His parents were Margrave Hermann, "the Tall" of Brandenburg and Anne of Austria , a daughter of Emperor Albert I , Duke of Austria and King of Bohemia .
