  5. Taneyev's music is characterized by its rich harmonies and virtuosic piano writing. He composed several operas, orchestral works, chamber music, and vocal and piano pieces. Some of his notable works include his String Quartet No. 1, Op. 25, and his Piano Quintet in G minor, Op. 30.
