Miss Dana's School for Young Ladies was a private boarding and finishing school active from 1877 to 1912, during the Gilded Age of Morristown. It was founded in 1860 as the Morris Female Institute. Its location was in Morristown, New Jersey at 163 South Street, near Madison Avenue.

Miss Dana's School for Young Ladies, which Foster attended from 1886 to 1896. Beginning in 1886, Foster attended Miss Dana's School for Young Ladies in Morristown. According to historian Becky Hoskins, this was the best education available in Morristown.
Starting in 1886, Cara began attending the Miss Dana School for Young Ladies, this was a nationally recognized girls’ school that arose to teach the daughters of the newly arrived millionaire class in Morris County. More information on the Miss Dana school can be found elsewhere in this exhibit.
After completing her education at Miss Dana's School for Young Ladies, a private school in New Jersey, and traveling abroad for a year, Marjorie went to work writing captions for Vogue magazine's pattern book.
About this collection. Incorporated as the Morris Female Institute in 1860, the school for young ladies was leased to Miss E. Elizabeth Dana in 1877. As the Gilded Age was just getting underway in Morristown, Miss Dana's school became an exclusive private institution for young women located at 163 South Street (at the present day site of a bank).
