Marian Hastings (1747–1837) born Anna Maria Apollonia Chapuset who became Marian von Imhoff, Baroness von Imhoff. She met Warren Hastings on a ship bound for India. While she and Warren remained on good terms she divorced her husband who painted miniatures and married Hastings. Hastings went on to govern Bengal.

Marian Hastings was not only a stunning and dignified woman, but she also had a very eclectic sense of elegance. It is said that she once fell in love with a magnificent purple flower that blooms on a perennial free-floating aquatic plant in the Amazon basin of South America.
RIMS Warren Hastings was a Royal Indian Marine troopship built by the Barrow Shipbuilding Co. and launched on 18 April 1893. The ship struck a rock and was wrecked off the coast of Réunion on the night of 14 January 1897.
