Stephen II, Ban of Bosnia. Stephen II ( Serbo-Croatian: Стефан II / Stjepan II) was the Bosnian Ban from 1314, but in reality from 1322 to 1353 together with his brother, Vladislav Kotromanić in 1326–1353. He was the son of Bosnian Ban Stephen I Kotromanić and Elizabeth, sister of King Stefan Vladislav II.
Charles Robert went on a campaign to eradicate the Croatian nobility in order to become the sole ruler of this realm. Towards the end of 1321, he confirmed Stephen's title as Ban of Bosnia, not as Mladen's vassal. Aided by the ruler of Slavenia Stephen II then encircled and isolated Croatia.

With smart rule and good diplomatic ties, he established all the conditions for Tvrtko I Kotromanić to make Bosnia the strongest independent South Slavic state in history.

Stephen Tvrtko I (Serbo-Croatian: Stjepan/Stefan Tvrtko / Стјепан/Стефан Твртко; c. 1338 – 10 March 1391) was the first king of Bosnia. A member of the House of Kotromanić, he succeeded his uncle Stephen II as the ban of Bosnia in 1353.
