The Portuguese Parliament is formed of a single chamber of Members and is called the Assembleia da República. It is one of two elected bodies that exercise sovereign power established in the Constitution, alongside the President of the Republic, and its constitutional role is to be the “assembly that represents all Portuguese citizens”.
