The Boeing 747 is a long-range wide-body airliner designed and manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes in the United States between 1968 and 2023. After the introduction of the 707 in October 1958, Pan Am wanted a jet 2 + 1 ⁄ 2 times its size, to reduce its seat cost by 30%.
Boeing's 747-300 model introduced the distinctive stretched upper deck which can seat up to 69 economy class passengers. The 747-300 was the end result of a number of Boeing studies which looked at increasing the aircraft's seating capacity.
747-300. The 747-300 entered commercial service in 1983, and was the first to integrate the most significant changes of the 747 Classics. These changes included an extended upper deck and improved engines with a reduced fuel burn of 25 percent per passenger.
