10 de jun. de 2024 · These were my thoughts as I wrote the following poem. It makes use of the language and setting from an early Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers film, Flying Down to Rio. The title reminded me of a story my father once told me, a story he told me fully because it was not his own:

They starred in a total of ten films together, each one pushing the boundaries of dance and entertainment.

18 de jun. de 2024 · Also in 1933 Astaire was paired with Ginger Rogers in the RKO Radio Pictures production Flying Down to Rio. They were a sensation, stealing the picture from stars Delores del Rio and Gene Raymond.

As RKO got the result they expected, in 1933 they quickly decided to have del Rio do another film, a musical comedy directed by Thornton Freeland: Flying Down to Rio. In the film, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers first appeared as dance partners.
