The Mannes School of Music ( ⫽ ˈmænɪs ⫽ ), originally called the David Mannes Music School and later the Mannes Music School, Mannes College of Music, the Chatham Square Music School, and Mannes College: The New School for Music, is a music conservatory in The New School, a private research university in New York City.
The curriculum at Mannes breathes new life into traditional conservatory education, offering students rigorous training together with unique opportunities to grow as artists through cross-disciplinary collaboration, entrepreneurial thinking, and social engagement.
The Mannes Opera is led by managing artistic director Emma Griffin and operates within the College of Performing Arts at The New School. With a curiosity for the new and a devotion to craft, we are a training program for operatic artists of the 21st century.
