Em 2005, o relatório intitulado “Who Cares Wins” (Ganha quem se importa), resultado de uma iniciativa liderada pela Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU), buscava critérios e recomendações para a inclusão de questões ambientais, sociais e de governança no mercado financeiro.
31 de jan. de 2022 · A sigla foi usada pela primeira no relatório “Who cares wins” (“Quem se importa, vence”, em tradução direta), da própria ONU em parceria com grandes bancos e fundos globais. E, a partir da definição dos Objetivos do Desenvolvimento Sustentável – ODS, em 2015, ganhou mais destaque no mundo.

Who Cares Wins (WCW) was initiated by the UN Secretary General and UN Global Compact in 2004 in collaboration with the Swiss government. The initiative was endorsed by 23 financial institutions collectively representing more than US$6 trillion in assets. IFC and the World Bank Group were among the endorsing institutions.
