16 de mai. de 2024 · The Sand Creek Massacre was a surprise attack by about 675 U.S. troops under Colonel John M. Chivington upon a camp of Cheyenne and Arapaho people in southeastern Colorado Territory in November 1864. More than 230 Native Americans were massacred. The incident was a chief cause of the Arapaho-Cheyenne war that followed.
