What is Prometheus? Prometheus is an open-source systems monitoring and alerting toolkit originally built at SoundCloud. Since its inception in 2012, many companies and organizations have adopted Prometheus, and the project has a very active developer and user community.
Configuring Prometheus to monitor itself. Prometheus collects metrics from targets by scraping metrics HTTP endpoints. Since Prometheus exposes data in the same manner about itself, it can also scrape and monitor its own health. While a Prometheus server that collects only data about itself is not very useful, it is a good starting example.
We provide precompiled binaries and Docker images for most officially maintained Prometheus components. If a component is not listed here, check the respective repository on Github for further instructions.
