Há 5 dias · The inner gatehouse of 14th-century date has, since the suppression, formed part of a dwellinghouse, now known as 'Palace House' and the residence of the Lord Montagu of Beaulieu. It consists of a porch and an inner hall, with a bay on either side of each and a chapel above.
6 de jul. de 2024 · Rachel Forster was the daughter of the 1st Lord Montagu of Beaulieu and Lepe was originally acquired as part of the Exbury estate, forming its south-eastern extremity. The house had once been the Ship Inn, long favoured by smugglers, but, in 1908, the Forsters transformed it into a dower house for Exbury and began creating the garden.

17 de jul. de 2024 · His widow Charlotte Duchess of Buccleugh owned it until her death in 1895, when it passed to her second son Henry Lord Montagu of Beaulieu. He was succeeded in 1905 by his son John Walter Edward.
5 de jul. de 2024 · In January 1962 another letter appeared, from the then Lord Montagu. He stated that he had agreed to sell the site to the Yacht Club for the nominal sum of £400 but had imposed special conditions to protect the amenities of the river.
