After watching Bridgerton I’ve gone back through all the Austen adaptations. I saved my favourite until last. The one I know best, love most and have seen the most times is the BBC mini series - or at least I thought I knew it best.
The book is more about her faults than her virtues, and at the time heroines of novels were generally expected to be a models of perfection, and the book is about the troubles that happen to them, than the trouble they cause. I don't actually think the 2020 version caught Emma's personality well.
