14 de mai. de 2024 · 14 May 2024. Royal Air Force pilots have trained to fly in Texas since the Second World War when seven schools helped meet the demand for aircrew at the height of the conflict. Today RAF instructors and students still train in the Lone Star State as part of a unique NATO programme.

6 de mai. de 2024 · He entered the RAF on a short service commission and began his elementary flying training on 31st October 1938. With his training completed he joined 32 Squadron at Biggin Hill just before the outbreak of war. He destroyed a Me109 on 19th May 1940. On 3rd June Eckford was posted to 242 Squadron at Biggin Hill.
Há 2 dias · GE Ellis joined the RAF on a short service commission and began his elementary flying training on 6th March 1939. In April he went to No. 1 RAF Depot Uxbridge for a short induction course. On 29th April 1939 Ellis moved to 14 FTS Kinloss and joined No. 1 Course there, which had begun on 13th April.

8 de mai. de 2024 · Later in 1935 Malan applied for a short service commission in the RAF, was accepted and began his elementary flying training at 2 E&RFTS Filton on 6th January 1936. On 1st March 1936 Malan relinquished his RNR commission.
