4 de jan. de 2007 · Civil disobedience is variously described as an act by which “one addresses the sense of justice of the majority of the community” (Rawls 1999, 320), as “a plea for reconsideration” (Singer 1973, 84–92), and as a “symbolic… appeal to the capacity for reason and sense of justice of the majority” (Habermas 1985, 99).
Civil disobedience, also called passive resistance, the refusal to obey the demands or commands of a government or occupying power, without resorting to violence or active measures of opposition; its usual purpose is to force concessions from the government or occupying power.
Civil disobedience is the active, professed refusal of a citizen to obey certain laws, demands, orders or commands of a government (or any other authority). By some definitions, civil disobedience has to be nonviolent to be called "civil". Hence, civil disobedience is sometimes equated with peaceful protests or nonviolent resistance.
A desobediência civil é basicamente uma ação popular que consiste na desobediência expressa de uma determinada lei. Isso se dá quando um grupo de cidadãos entende que determinada lei, ou simplesmente a ausência dela, produz injustiça.

A Desobediência Civil (em inglês, Civil Disobedience) é um ensaio escrito por Henry David Thoreau em 1849 [ 1] . Thoreau escreveu o livro após ter sido preso por não pagar seus impostos, que ele se negou a pagar porque financiavam a guerra contra o México, que na época teve grande parte de seu território anexado pelos EUA.
