Its hero, Red Orm Tostesson, sails to France, Spain (where he serves in the guard of the Moorish leader Almansur), Ireland, England, Denmark, Sweden, and even Russia.

29 de mai. de 2024 · In this episode I look at the Swedish Classic Rode Orm, or The Long Ships, a mighty Viking Saga written by Frans G. Bengtsson.
Just finished Frans Bengtsson's "The Long Ships" which tells the story of a Viking around the year 1000 CE. The book is hostorical fiction rather than fantasy but it scratched the itch the fantasy books usually do for me.
In Frans Bengtsson's Viking adventure "The Long Ships", the protagonist's crew are unaware of the existence of Jews - when they meet one, the wisest man only knows that Jews are an Eastern people hated by the Christians for killing their god. Would c.10 Vikings really have been this unaware?
