Há 3 dias · Once described by Horace Walpole as 'the palace of palaces', Osterley was created in the late 18th century by architect and designer Robert Adam for the Child family to entertain and impress their friends and clients. Today the house is presented as it would have looked in the 1780s.
25 de mai. de 2024 · In 1770 Robert Adam was commissioned by the Duke to carry out certain internal decorations in the dining- and drawing-rooms and elsewhere. (fn. 74) Some beautiful drawings, including one of an ornamental ceiling, are preserved at the Soane Museum, showing his treatment.
