13 de ago. de 2024 · Peregrine Bertie DL (ca. 1663 – 10 July 1711) was a British politician, the second son of Robert Bertie, 3rd Earl of Lindsey. Educated at the Middle Temple in 1679, Bertie first entered the House of Commons in 1685 in Boston, alongside his brother, Lord Willoughby de Eresby, [1] and generally inclined towards the Tories.

He was the son of Sir Robert Willoughby, of Parham and Cicely Welles. Cecely Welles was the half sister of Lady Margaret Beaufort, the mother of King Henry VII of England.

14 de ago. de 2024 · This Thomas Bainard sold this lordship, in the 10th of the said King, to Sir Thomas Rosceline, from whom it came (as may be seen at large in Edgfield) to John Lord Willoughby of Eresby, and from them to Richard Bertue, by the heiress, whose son Peregrine, was Lord Willoughby in his mother's right, and presented to the church in 1602.

Grimsthorpe has been the seat of the Willoughby de Eresby baronets since 1516. By the following century, the family had successfully ridden the waves of religious and political change.
