I missed Pat too. It’s crazy how Zach Zaidman still doesn’t sound comfortable behind the mic. He’s done an inning of play-by-play in every game for six years, plus occasionally doing an entire game and he’s still just borderline mediocre. He misses calls, long delays in safe or out calls, always a fair amount of dead air.

That might sound facile, and Hughes sometimes leans too far into the bit, but there's a real and more subtle reality to that phenomenon than we grok, sometimes.
