Like you say, just because something can be generalised, doesn’t mean it applies to everyone and in the examples you gave, where it is clear that it is shared by most the population, it is definitely easier to digest generalised information and, for the most part be correct, but as you said, with things as varied as music taste, it is difficult, if not impossible ...
