  1. 17 de mai. de 2024 · We discuss the magnetization M m in the m-th column of the zig-zag layered 2D Ising model on a half-plane using Kadanoff–Ceva fermions and orthogonal polynomials techniques. Our main result gives an explicit representation of M m via m × m Hankel determinants constructed from the spectral measure of a certain Jacobi matrix which encodes the interaction parameters between the columns.

  2. 16 de mai. de 2024 · Sidney Nagel leads a team of researchers who study non-linear and far-from-equilibrium behavior in disordered systems. Such cases occur often in fluid dynamics such as when a drop of liquid splashes on a solid object or is placed on a very hot surface. As the head of the Nagel Group, he investigates phenomena such as jamming, granular materials ...

  7. 29 de abr. de 2024 · In this paper, we investigate the need for such special conditions. We show that Landau-incompatible transitions can be found in a family of well-known classical statistical mechanical models with anomaly-free on-site microscopic symmetries, introduced by José, Kadanoff, Kirkpatick and Nelson (Phys. Rev. B 16, 1217).
