He married Catherine Stafford, daughter of Humphrey Stafford, 1st Duke of Buckingham and Lady Anne Neville, circa 1467. He died on 28 June 1473 at age 24. John Talbot, 3rd Earl of Shrewsbury gained the title of 3rd Earl of Shrewsbury.
