22 de mai. de 2024 · It was conveyed in 1568 by Henry FitzAlan, earl of Arundel, John Lumley, Lord Lumley, and his wife Jane to John Edmunds, and thereafter descended with the Yapton manor demesnes. The attached farm had 75 a. in 1667 and 100 a. in 1699, and corresponded to the later Hobbs farm east of Bilsham Road.

3 de mai. de 2024 · The house was subsequently sold to Henry Fitz Alan, 12th Earl of Arundel, for slightly more than £40. He was succeeded by his grandson, Philip Howard, but he was tried for treason and died in the Tower of London in 1595.

He was the second son of Henry Howard, 22nd Earl of Arundel, and Lady Elizabeth Stuart. He succeeded his brother Thomas Howard, 5th Duke of Norfolk, after Thomas's death in 1677.
