GERMANS, in the hundred and deanery of East, a decayed market and borough town, lies about eight miles from Plymouth dock, about 23 from Launceston, and 230 from London.

The site of the priory became the residence of the Eliot family, and acquired the name of Port Eliot.

He died in 1823, but his residence in Downing Street had ceased in 1805, when the lease was purchased by the Crown.
