15 de mai. de 2024 · It was inhabited by Henry Percy (Hotspur) before it was forfeited to Henry IV., who bestowed it upon his wife, Queen Jane, as her "wardrobe." Another Northumberland House was in the parish of St. Katherine Colman, on the south side of Fenchurch Street, the memory of which still survives in Northumberland Alley.
17 de mai. de 2024 · Henry Percy, 9th Earl of Northumberland (1564-1632) was a handsome gentleman of fashion, with a keen intellect, loyal to his friends and congenial to his hosts. His keepers were not jailers, since they went to considerable lengths to assure his comfort.
Há 3 dias · Percy. Duke of Northumberland. The square flanking towers already referred to were carried up two extra stages and completed with characteristic lead cupolas. The two towers on the garden side (shown in the Hollar view, Plate 2a) were removed during the 1749–58 alterations. All the towers, with one exception, contained a staircase.

Shakespeare makes one of the Percys, the dashing Harry Hotspur (1364–1403), the hero of his Henry IV, Part 1 .
