Há 1 dia · Ab 1979 lehrte er als Gastprofessor an der Hochschule der Künste Berlin, ab 1982 als Professor. 1997 folgte seine Berufung als Professor für Klavier an die Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“ Berlin als Nachfolger von Dieter Zechlin. Dort hatte er auch nach seinem Eintritt in den Ruhestand von 2002 bis 2012 einen Lehrauftrag inne.
Hanns Eisler war ein österreichischer Komponist, der als Schüler von Arnold Schönberg der „Wiener Schule“ zugerechnet wird, im Exil in den USA (1938–1948) u. a. Filmmusiken komponierte, als überzeugter Kommunist nach Kriegsende nach Ost-Berlin emigrierte und u. a. die Melodie der Nationalhymne der DDR (1949) schrieb.

In these years he developed his theory of “epic theatre” and an austere form of irregular verse. He also became a Marxist.
