17 de mai. de 2024 · Betjeman succeeded Cecil Day Lewis as Poet Laureate in 1972, a position which he held until his death. He was knighted in 1969, awarded a CBE in 1960, and a CLitt in 1968. He had a lifelong love of Cornwall, which is reflected in his work, and he died at his home in Trebetherick in 1984.
