18 de jul. de 2024 · Miscellaneous material in the British Library includes Additional Charters relating to Rotherfield Greys, Rotherfield Peppard, and Henley; topographical drawings (e.g. Add. MS 36373, ff. 80b–100); and papers of Sir Bulstrode Whitelocke (e.g. Egerton MS 997) and Caroline Powys.
16 de jul. de 2024 · On his death in 1681, he left his house to a son of Bulstrode Whitelocke, who had befriended him. John Bradshaw the regicide lived in Walton, in a house still partly preserved. Admiral Sir George Rodney was born at Walton in 1718.

17 de jul. de 2024 · William Say of Slinfold, Sussex, had been a barrister since 1631. During the Personal Rule he was fined as the ringleader of a group who drank a toast to a meeting of parliament. He was a staunch parliamentarian and friend of Bulstrode Whitelocke.

18 de jul. de 2024 · In 1638 James's son Sir Bulstrode Whitelocke bought Henley park, the Mellers' lease, and the Mellers' freehold half of Fillets, thus reuniting the manor, though he had to sell some outlying parts in Assendon and Watlington to help meet the cost.
