23 de mai. de 2024 · Wellington resigned on 16th November, 1830, and Earl Grey became Prime Minister. Charles Grey, son of Sir Charles Grey, afterwards 1st Earl Grey, was born in 1764. On leaving Cambridge he spent some time in travel, and in 1786 entered Parliament as member for Northumberland.

The first known published references to an “Earl Grey” tea are advertisements by Charlton & Co in London in the 1880s.

In 1834 Grey retired from public life, leaving Lord Melbourne as his successor.
