22 de abr. de 2014 · Gregory Cromwell was born on a date lost to history in Putney, Surrey, England sometime between 1514 and 1520. Son of Thomas Cromwell and Elizabeth Wyckes Cromwell, he enjoyed a privileged childhood common to those with accumulated riches through the merchant class along with his two sisters, Anne and Grace.
15 de fev. de 2023 · 4th July 1551, Gregory Cromwell, 1st Baron Cromwell and son of the late Thomas Cromwell, Earl of Essex, died of sweating sickness at Launde Abbey, in Leicestershire. He was buried at the abbey’s chapel on 7th July. Merchant-taylor Henry Machyn recorded the sweating sickness outbreak and Gregory Cromwell’s death in his diary:
Gregory Cromwell was born in late 1519 or early 1520 and was the son of Thomas Cromwell, who would become King Henry VIII’s chief minister, and his wife, Elizabeth Wyckes. His mother and sisters, Anne and Grace, appear to have died in 1529.
12 de mai. de 2015 · Gregory, born about 1520, was the only son of Thomas and Elizabeth Cromwell. Gregory’s two legitimate sisters died along with his mother of sweating sickness when Gregory was nine. Thomas Cromwell sought to ensure his son’s well-being and education in the aftermath of his bereavement by sending him to nuns to be cared for.
The original text of Cromwell's unused will of 1529 speaks of ‘my little daughter Grace’, but just ‘my son Gregory’, suggesting that she is younger than Gregory, but both girls get the same legacies, not just 100 marks for marriage when they come of lawful age to be married, but also £40 for finding them until then, suggesting that they are not far apart in age: SP 1/54, fos 234–47 ...

Thomas Cromwell's son Gregory Cromwell, 1st Baron Cromwell, married Elizabeth Seymour, the sister of Queen Jane Seymour and widow of Sir Anthony Ughtred. They had five children: Henry Cromwell, 2nd Baron Cromwell; Edward Cromwell; Thomas Cromwell; Katherine Cromwell; Frances Cromwell; Thomas Cromwell had an illegitimate daughter called Jane.
