Micro-AbstractBrain metastases have been seen more frequently in the late course of colorectal cancer. In this large cohort, we showed that, despite the advances in systemic therapy, prognosis remains poor for patients who develop brain metastases. Aggressive local therapy should be considered for selected patients.

Colorectal cancer leading to brain metastasis is associated with high rates of mortality and poor prognosis. This study identified certain clinical characteristics that may predict the occurrence of BM, which may lead to earlier detection and diagnosis. We found the rate of BM to develop from CRC to be 0.30%.
