Althorp is een civil parish in het Engelse graafschap Northamptonshire.Het landgoed is in eigendom van de adellijke familie Spencer. Gelegen op anderhalf uur rijden van Londen, is op het landgoed tegenwoordig [(sinds) wanneer?] een museum gevestigd ter nagedachtenis aan Diana, prinses van Wales, die dochter was van de achtste graaf Spencer en in haar jeugd op Althorp gewoond heeft.
Althorp is a lost village within the grounds of the Althorp estate in the English county of Northamptonshire. The village is recorded in the Domesday Book . In the 15th century, the manor was held by the Catesby family who were probably responsible for clearing the settlement, for by 1505, the records show that there were no tenants.
The 1st Northamptonshire Rifle Volunteers were a unit of the British Army raised from 1859 onwards as a group of originally separate Rifle Volunteer Corps (RVCs). They later became the 4th Volunteer Battalion of the Northamptonshire Regiment and saw action in the Gallipoli and Palestine campaigns during the First World War.

Slottet var ursprungligen ett rött Tudorhus i tegel, men byggdes om radikalt under mitten av 1700-talet efter ritningar av Henry Holland . Prinsessan Diana växte upp på Althorp och har här även fått sitt sista vilorum.

Tatler's March 2021 issue cover stars Lady Eliza and Lady Amelia Spencer lived at the house until they were 3-years-old, when the family moved to South Africa. Since then, they have split their time between Cape Town and Althorp, spending their summers at the family seat.
Er besuchte von 1848 bis 1854 die Harrow School, sowie anschließend das Trinity College der University of Cambridge, wo er 1857 seinen Master erhielt. 1857 wurde er für den Wahlkreis South Northamptonshire in das House of Commons gewählt, wechselte aber im Dezember in das House of Lords, da er nach dem Tod seines Vaters den Titel Earl Spencer erbte.
