Edmund Spenser (* um 1552 in London; † 13. Januar 1599 ebenda) war ein bedeutender englischer Dichter des elisabethanischen Zeitalters , der als älterer Zeitgenosse zu einem der Vorbilder William Shakespeares wurde.
Edmund Spenser was born in London in 1552. His date of birth is currently approximate due to lack of records. This occurred due to the Great Fire of 1666, which ended up destroying any evidence of his birth date. It is believed that in the 1560s, the Merchant Taylors’ School in London became the starting point of his formal education.
