Chen Ning Yang was born on September 22, 1922, in Hofei, Anwhei, China, the first of five children of Ke Chuan Yang and Meng Hwa Loh Yang. He is also known as Frank or Franklin. Yang was brought up in the peaceful and academically inclined atmosphere of the campus of Tsinghua University, just outside of Peiping, China, where his father was a Professor of Mathematics.

Chen Ning Yang é um físico chinês. Yang naturalizou-se cidadão dos Estados Unidos em 1964. Foi laureado com o Nobel de Física de 1957, por investigações das leis da paridade e obtenção de importantes descobertas relativas a partículas elementares.
Yang later joked that he was not a well-behaved child when he was young. He climbed every tree in Tsinghua, but his father never corrected him too much for his unruly behaviors. When the full-scale war against Japanese aggression broke out in 1937, Yang Chen Ning’s family left Tsinghua. By March 1938, they found themselves in Kunming.
