  4. 24 January 1884 - 27 May 1951. A formal portrait of Field Marshal Sir Thomas Blamey GBE KCB CMG DSO ED. Thomas Albert Blamey was born in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, on 24 January 1884, the seventh of ten children of Richard Blamey, a Cornish butcher who had emigrated to Australia at age 16 and worked as a drover and overseer.
