Leverett, John, 1616 - 1679 John Leverett was the son of Thomas Leverett of Boston, Lincolnshire, England who immigrated to Boston, Massachusetts in 1633 and became a merchant in the Atlantic trade. He joined the town’s Artillery Company in 1639 and was sent by Massachusetts authorities to negotiate with the Narragansetts in 1642.
